Change is possible.

The purpose of therapeutic intervention is to bring about a change in what has become harmful to the person and is compulsively repeating itself.

Professors Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey have developed the ITC(Immunity To Change) coaching method. The method is based on Harvard Emeritus Professor Kegan's theory of adult developmental psychology.

Jukka Kangas has completed certification program in ITC coaching in Boston at Minds@Work, where Kegan and Lahey are the co-founders and directors.

The ITC process is suitable for those who feel they need a change but find themselves repeating an old and self-consuming pattern of behaviour.

The interaction between body and mind is a particular interest of mine. The body can show symptoms of the demands of the mind, which repeatedly push the body feelings out of consciousness. Often the body tells what the mind cannot yet articulate. Therefore, listening to and recognizing the body feelings can be a channel to the source of thoughts and feelings. Unconscious beliefs, thoughts and feelings can guide bodily responses and actions.

At a principal level, the body and mind work in a similar way. Often our actions are determined by what we have unconsciously learned to avoid. The body carries its experienced history with it, just as the mind does. Identifying what we have instinctively learned to avoid and how we assume things will inevitably be helps to change our perspective and enables us to make conscious choices. Then change is possible.

ITC coaching can be delivered as individual or group coaching. ITC process usually takes 6-8 months.
