Suvi Kangas

Physiotherapist
Senior Therapist

Suvi Kangas is a physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, a nutrition counsellor and a student of nutrition therapy.

The focus of Suvi's work is to meet the person who comes to the practice from their point of view. The reasons for seeking treatment and therefore the rehabilitation processes are individual.

-The person who comes to me is in need of help and new solutions. I need to understand the situation of the person who comes to me in order to respond to this need.

Identifying the factors that maintain the problem and making them visible to the rehabilitant are essential elements in solution-focused change work. These form the basis for the design and consistent implementation of an individualised rehabilitation process. Suvi defines the rehabilitation process as a goal-oriented collaboration between therapist and client.

-The process harnesses the client's resources to achieve his or her own goals. An important part of the process is guiding the client's own agency towards health-supportive solutions.

In her practice, Suvi meets children, young people and adults in very different situations. The reason for coming to see her may be a musculoskeletal pain condition or injury, or pre- or post-operative rehabilitation.

-I also treat people in situations where there is no pain in the body, but the person has identified an abnormal sensation in the body when working or moving. Often, musculoskeletal rehabilitation processes are easier and simpler the earlier the abnormal sensations in the body are responded to.

-You can also come to my office for nutritional advice. Nutritional counselling involves assessing your eating habits and the state of your digestive system. If necessary, nutritional counselling can be carried out as a supportive measure for physiotherapeutic rehabilitation.
